Finished up a drawing that I have been nursing in various forms since last summer. I'm mostly proud if it even if the hatching should have been tighter in places, especially on the hoverplane where it's the most obvious, and suffering a little from the modern comics disease of being a little overly shaded and overly modeled by computer.

This is another promotional piece for Sci Fi Guy! and another "corrupted future". I love these retro futures! This one is sort of a forgotten retro future being the 2000s as seen from the '70s (All Solid State Punk? 8-Track Punk?) Although, it's probably closer to Science News and Science Digest than it is to Science Fiction.

The world is teetering on a New Ice Age because all that smog and "plution" reflections away sunlight and is generally bad for the "viroment" and "cology". The world has ran out of oil in the '90s and all the various economies have stiff armed themselves to convert over to solar, hydrogen, geothermal, and nuclear. Nuclear power includes fusion technology that was developed by a Manhattan Project style crash program. Solar power includes a ring of geostationary Power-Sats transmitting down power. Space Flight has made a practical renaissance with spacecraft to service those Power Sats and ferry back Helium3 from lunar colonies to fuel earthly fusion reactors. Explorational space travel includes a manned orbital mission of Jupiter, which has no rings but does have 31 moons. Because of overpopulation and mineral depletion the Earth's oceans are mined for manganese nodules and other minerals. Also because of population pressures the oceans are farmed for kelp and algae to be processed into food. The United Nations has an annoying "Baby Police" agency to get a hold on over population by making sure that no family has more than one. Computers are almost ubiquitous with terminals in most business and many homes, all connected to a mainframe downtown. The United States went Metric about the same time that the Wankel killed off pistons. The Soviet Union is still around, although creakier than ever (an adult Leroy Stovick complains "Why don't they give up that Commie crap? Don't they know what a great foreign market that they'd make?"). Hover and supersonic planes are not uncommon.
